Academy Of Somiatry (Physical Medicine)

Mind, Body, and Spirit

The Somatry Academy shall include but not limited to:  

  1.  Massage Therapy in all of its branches such as: Neuro-Muscular, Shiatsu, Tuaina, Swedish, Connective Tissue,         Mechanotherapy, and etc
  2. Movement/Motion Therapy and Revalidation
  3. Mechanotherapy Osseus Articulations Manipulations and Neuro-Muscular Manipulations
  4. Physiotherapy; Physiotechnical Applications, Air, Water, Light, Heat, and Cold.        Electrotherapy, Ultra-Sound, Tens, High Frequency, Dia-Dynamic Currents,       Magnet-Therapy, Infra-Tonic Therapy, Thermograph, Laser-Therapy,       Hydrotherapy, Therapeutic exercise and Muscle Testing, Ergonomics

Practitioners shall be educated in diagnostics and treatment modalities  Academics to include: Anatomy, Physiology, Neurology, Pathology, Patho-physiology, Orthopedics Therapeutic result should be evaluated objectively and subjectively, and main criteria is quality of result (functionality) Therapeutic outcome should also have a prophylactic profile, secondary preventive measurements should be addressed to the patient.

  • The academy will protect its standards by demanding certain ethical attitude from the its members:
  • The practitioner must be able to give the patient the most adequate treatment within his/hers possibility.
  • The practitioner will perform treatments within the border of training set by the academy.
  • The practitioner will withdraw statements or proceedings that are not related to his/hers expertise.
  • The practitioner should be respectful to confidential facts of his/her patient.
  • The practitioner should regularly update knowledge and skills to be able to give good service to the public.
  • The practitioner must be, when not professionally performing, able to not bring trust of his/hers profession in discredit.
  • The practitioner must respect religion, culture, philosophy, or outlook on life of his/hers patient.
  • The practitioner should respect the patient's responsibility. Practitioner has the task together with the patient to give form and provide therapeutic possibilities to create health and functionality in activities of daily life.
  • Practitioner should explain to patient in a comprehensible way, how therapy is being performed and with what outcome and goals.
  • The practitioner has the right to refuse a patient, if the patient does not cooperate with treatment plan of practitioner.
  • The practitioner must be able to report in a proper way to doctors or specialist who referred the patient for treatment.
  • The practitioner will not criticize colleagues in public or for opportunist reasons.
  • Independent practice will only be possible when certified and followed up by approved standards of  the WCASHA .
  • The practitioner should bestow care on that his/her practice (treatment-room) should be hygienic, also instruments should be disinfected, and he/she must take care of a well organized practice in broad spectrum of the word.(finances, legal matters, location etc.)
